Lower Mill of Tynet Farm is run by Gordon Whiteford, his wife June and young Alexander. It is a mixed farm with cattle and arable as well as our happy free-range hens. Gordon is passionate about animal welfare and the environment and spent a year studying best practice across the world through a Nuffield Scholarship. He is now applying these new techniques in both the farm’s egg and organic feed production which not only helps to improve the environment but also produces higher quality produce. Gordon studied Agricultural Business Management and then got support from the Prince’s Trust to get his organic egg business, Highland Eggs, off the ground. From there, a tenancy with Crown Estates has meant he has been able to build a packing facility on Lower Mill of Tynet farm allowing him to be in charge of the whole process.
