Orange and Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredients

200g butter, softened
200g caster sugar
3 eggs
250g flour
1 ½ t baking powder
2 oranges, juice and zest
50g poppy seeds

Directions

Heat oven to 180C. Prepare a cake tin by lining with baking paper. Using an electric mixer, combine butter and sugar in a large bowl. Beat until pale and creamy, about 2 mins. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after you add each one. Combine flour and baking powder, then add the orange juice, zest and poppy seeds. Stir everything together, then pour into the cake tin. Bake for 50 mins. Allow to cool completely before removing to a serving plate.
